About Me

AvaStClairSENIOR-143_edited.jpg

I am Ava St. Clair. Born and raised in rural Kentucky, I have always experimented with art. A major goal that I want to achieve with my artwork is to create happiness. To me, art is fun, colorful, adventurous, and happy. This is what I strive for with every piece that I create.

originally started my artistic journey by selling commissioned artworks around my small town. My paintings that I have been creating and selling for eight years started to become popular items to people all over the U.S. I found ceramics during my senior year of high school, and I fell in love. Pottery is my therapy. It is what I crave when I am off at school.

I have been creating and selling my pottery for about five years now. I set up at local art and craft shows, teach classes out of my studio, and I take custom orders.

I am working towards receiving my BA in Art Education and my BA in Art Studio with a minor in Art History through the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky. My goal with my degrees is to improve my craft and to continue teaching classes out of my studio. I love to share my love of art by selling it and by teaching others how to create beautiful works that they are proud of.

My Teaching Practice

By integrating TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) strategies, I create an open and inviting classroom. Every student is an artist when they walk into my studio. By focusing on developing our craft with teaching techniques and skills, my students are able to apply those techniques to their own artistic creations.

 Artist + Teacher!

Being an artist is an important part of my teaching practice. I want to be an example for my students that being an artist is a real and important job! By building up my local art community, I hope to make a lasting effect on the people in my local area and around the world. I want to bring joy, creativity, and freedom of expression into my class. Every student is welcome in my classroom!
